Creating a special monument or memorial for your loved one can be hard, which is why we’re always on hand to help at The Memorial Group. Who organises the paper work with the local burial authority?

We will complete all the necessary forms with the local burial authority, i.e. council. All we ask is that the registered grave owner signs the relevant cemetery forms where we mark them.

What are your payment terms?

We require a 50% deposit for memorials we are fixing in a cemetery, and the balance in full prior to the memorial being erected. For vases and small memorials where delivery is arranged to a home address, payment in full is required.

How long does a memorial take to make once ordered?

The typical time period for this process ranges from 8-12 weeks, depending on such factors as complexity and the materials selected.

How soon can a memorial be erected after a burial?

This will depend on the cemetery regulations - which we can check for you - and the ground conditions. The typical time period is 6-12 months after a burial.

What are cemetery fees?

These are charges levied by the local burial authority, i.e. the council, for permission to be granted for a memorial to be erected in the cemetery. We will pay the fees on your behalf and add them on to the costs. Some burial authorities do not charge any fees, while some are in excess of £500.

How will the inscription look?

Once you have the inscription for the memorial and committed to an order, we will send you a scale drawing of the headstone showing the inscription. If required, you can alter the inscription at this stage.

Can I order a memorial without an inscription?

Yes. You can order a memorial and then provide us with the inscription in due course. The memorial can be in production whilst you decide on the inscription.

Can I have any size memorial?

The size of a memorial varies from cemetery to cemetery, as well as by the different sections within a cemetery. If you are not sure, please let us know the cemetery and grave number; we can then check with the local burial authority for you.

Does The Memorial Group erect the memorial?

Yes. Our prices include erecting the memorial in the cemetery. We will only erect a memorial once the necessary permission has been granted from the local burial authority.
